Herding cats

If anyone out there has tried to get several little kids to sit still for a photo you know what I mean by "herding cats".  Try as we may, I think it will be a long while before we get Carter, Caelyn and Blake to sit together and say "cheeeeese" for the camera!  I've started to love the shots we take trying to get the cute photo.  I love Blake's expression in this first one.

The adults decided we would scream like the kids were.  Caelyn and Blake thought it was so fun and the loudness scared Carter to death.  He recovered quickly.

Birthday weekend for Papa!

My dad had a Birthday celebration this weekend.  My sister, Angie, and her family came in from Overland Park and we had a great time!  We watched as the cousins ages 6 months to 3 years played and Dad (Papa) loved every minute of it.  It was a super chaotic weekend with all the kids, but none of us can remember how it was before.  We just know we would not change a thing....except to add more children to the mix.   Speaking of adding more to the beautiful chaos, Angie will be having her third child due to arrive January 1, 2009!!!!  You will see photos of her gorgeous children Blake and Brooke in this post.

My other sister, Katy and her husband just bought their first house!  It backs up to a the Ozarks Greenway Trail and has a huge back yard.  There will be some serious play time out there.  Their daughter, Caelyn, loves to show everyone where her room is.  

Happy Birthday Papa!  We love you so much.

Commentary on why the play day photo.....

I took Carter and his cousin Caelyn to an indoor play ground.  They ran and climbed and still had so much energy when it was time to leave.  My mother commented on how it didn't seem to wear Carter out at all since he was still so energetic.  As soon as we got buckled up in the car and hit the road, I looked back at Carter.  He was all sprawled out in his car seat.  I just had to take a picture.  Then I started laughing because he just looked so darn cute.....he gave me a courtesy smile.  I just want to eat him up!!!!

Major play day!

Back on Bull Creek

We went back to Bull Creek with friends this past Sunday.  We hung out on the bank at Big Rock.  It could not have been more beautiful that day.  Carter is so relaxed and just hangs.  Too fun.

July 4th

I thought it would be fun to see just how much Carter has changed in one year.  These are photos from the 4th of July in 2007 and 2008!  I can't believe how fast children change.

1st Haircut

Carter's first haircut was so cute.  We went to the barber shop and he sat there like a trooper!

Carter's 1st Birthday

Carter's 1st Birthday was such a blast.  We had over 50 people at our house to celebrate our special little boy.  Carter was such a trooper that day.  He was a bit overwhelmed, but really liked being around all the people.

In May we took Carter to my Dad's house to swim.  He seemed to enjoy it!  He was very relaxed.
